St Mary's Kempley
english-heritage.org.uk/visit/
Has the oldest timber roof of any building in England and incredible medieval wall paintings.

St Mary's Kempley. C14th porch abutting Norman arch. The porch has one pink wall.
The gloriously pink rear face of St Mary's Kempley.
A stunning medieval wall painting around a Norman window. The window is recessed with a splayed frame and ledge. The underside of the arch is decorated with a red and white chequerboard pattern, and above the arch there is a scene of rooftops. The window itself is a slim arched depiction of (probably) St George.
St Mary's Church Kempley. The medieval wall painting shows a full length depiction of a cleric.

kegg_metabolic: Metabolic networks from KEGG (2006)
109 metabolic networks of various species, as extracted from the Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) database in March 2006. Nodes are substances involved in enzymatic reactions present in the organism, and edges represent reactant-product pairs as extracted from the KEGG ligand database and matched against the present enzymes.
This network has 1264 nodes and 3415 edges.

We had a trip out to Hellens in Much Marcle yesterday. It has a fascinating history dating back to Harold Godwinson. While we were out we looked at St Mary's Kempley which has stunning medieval wall paintings and the rest, and Odda's Chapel, a Saxon survival.

An external view of medieval Hellens Manor showing a brick tower with stone long-and-short quoins and the outside of the hall. There is a super-cute little doorway across the corner where the hall and tower meet, with a tiled sloped roof, lanterns and a brick arch over it. The door is wooden and very old.
An external view of medieval Helens Manor showing a brick elevation with a tudor arched doorway and diamond-paned windows, remodelled in the C17th. The walls and doorways have creeper around them.

I somehow drifted on to this "medieval Ten Commandments of chivalry".
What a bunch of contradictions. 😵

3. Thou shalt respect all weaknesses, and shalt constitute thyself the defender of them.

4. Thou shalt love the country in which thou wast born.

5. Thou shalt not recoil before thine enemy.

6. Thou shalt make war against the infidel without cessation and without mercy.
